If you believe that the answer to your low back pain lies in passive treatments being administered to you in a clinic, then it's understandable that you'd be skeptical that an online program could help.
However, when you understand that the key to resolving your low back pain lies in identifying your pain triggers and learning how to move in away that doesn't provoke them, you soon realise that working online is a valid option.
The first time I realised I could genuinely help people effectively online was during the Covid pandemic when I met Rosine...
Rosine is standing in her living room, looking down at her little girl whose arms are reaching towards her.
She bends a few centimetres… then the pain jolts her back upright.A lightning bolt shoots from her spine down the back of her leg.
She freezes and forces a smile so her daughter won’t panic.Inside, she’s thinking: “What if I can’t ever do this again?”
By the time most people find their way to me, they’ve already done the tour:physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, yoga, Pilates…
But almost none of them have had the thing they most need: a thorough assessment.
Rosine was a textbook example. She had twisted awkwardly in the car seat on her way home and her back lit up.
She sent me a message after I'd given her husband my business card by chance earlier that day:
'Chronic back injury, now in agony. Back and leg pain 9/10. Can barely move. Can you help?'
I called her straight away.
First step: 'Try lying face down on the floor.'Nothing. Still a nine.
So I stopped guessing and started asking questions.
How did it start? What made it worse? What made it better, even a little?
A traumatic horse-riding injury years earlier. Worse after pregnancy. Yoga and Pilates reliably flaring things up.
It all pointed to instability in her lumbar spine, most likely involving ligament damage, although the current pain seemed to be disc-related. Lying face down meant gravity was over-arching an already unstable spine.
So I changed one thing.
'Grab a cushion and put it under your belly. We need to support your spine in a more neutral position.'
Ten seconds of silence.
'Andy… it’s gone.'
Nine to zero in seconds.
No back-cracking, cupping or magic hands required. Her spine just needed to be in a position it could tolerate. She was able to sleep that night.
The next day we did a 3-hour assessment over Zoom. We:
Identified her pain triggers
Showed her how to avoid provoking them in day-to-day activities
Coached her through an exercise program to improve the endurance of the muscles that stabilise her spine
No passive treatments. No knees-to-chest stretches (as she'd previously been advised to do by her physio).
Just:Specific movements to stop doing.Specific movements to start doing.
Three follow-up sessions, all online. She practised the spine hygiene I'd taught her and did her exercises.
Repetitive and consistent. Boring, but effective.
Two weeks later she sent me a photo of her with her daughter in her arms, both of them smiling. She’d ingrained the movement patterns we’d practised, developed muscular endurance, and could pick her little girl up with confidence again.
When I checked in about a year later, she was still living an active life, managing her back without the constant flare-ups that used to cause her despair.
Then a few months ago she sent me a new client: a neighbour with similar issues.
Five and a half years later, Rosine is still in control of her pain.
Rosine’s words:
“How lucky to have met Andy! For several years I had been suffering from back pain in the lumbar region. I had a series of lower back pain issues despite physiotherapy and regular physical activity. Everything got worse after my pregnancy, and I was starting to despair!
Andy's program saved me! I learned to relieve my pain, to perform the right movements on a daily basis, to restabilise my back and to build my muscles properly.
I appreciated the professional follow-up, the presence and the involvement of Andy, all by video, simple and effective! Thank you!!! I recommend 100%!”

Some more testimonials from clients who I've worked with exclusively online:
“I have had a variety of back issues for most of my adult life. At 57, despite exercising regularly, I was taking daily pain medication and physiotherapy wasn’t helping. I tried programs for back pain but suspected they were making things worse.
In the initial 3-hour session, Andy was meticulous about understanding my history and which movements caused or relieved pain. No other health care provider has taken this kind of time and attention.
His training sessions are enjoyable, varied, and effective. The app works very well, and Andy is always responsive to questions. When something isn’t working, he suggests alternatives until we find a solution.
Living in a rural area, I wasn’t sure how effective online training would be. Andy’s unique skills make it feel like we’re working in the same room.Highly recommended!”

“So glad I found The Back Coach. I struggled with back pain for years, including a herniated disc and pinched nerve.
After just a few weeks with Andy I made dramatic improvements. Six months later, I have virtually no pain and my core is stronger than it has been in years. Thank You Andy!”
Melvin Garber (USA)
“I cannot recommend Andy highly enough! Despite being only 24, I suffered from poor posture, hours at the computer, and incorrect gym form—all of which led to a severe herniated disc.
After costly doctor visits, scans, and physical therapy with no relief, I turned to Andy. His knowledge and tailored approach helped me make a full recovery and safely resume resistance training. Andy’s support was truly priceless.
If you’re struggling with back pain, don’t hesitate to contact Andy—he genuinely is a miracle worker. Since my recovery, I have confidently referred several friends dealing with debilitating back pain to Andy.”
Bilel Rais (Indonesia)
“I had been struggling with lower back pain (L4-L5) for almost three years. Surgery helped with leg pain but not the back pain itself.
I began Andy’s program four months ago with online sessions every two weeks. I now have days where I don’t notice my back at all and I’ve resumed ordinary activities I had stopped.
He is an extraordinary professional — always kind and willing to help. If he’s helped me this much in a few months, I can’t wait to see what’s next.Thank you, Andy.”
Mayte Medina (Spain)
“Andy was absolutely excellent. I’ve had back issues for years, and I’ve never felt better than after the program he arranged.
He showed me what I should do and also eliminated exercises I thought were helping but were actually harming me.
I cannot recommend him enough — super professional, accommodating, and with a personal approach!”
